Social distancing or sheltering-in-place is more than an inconvenience for some. For some, home is not a peaceful or even safe place and having to stay home is terrifying. For some, leaving home was the only interaction with other people and that has been taken away. Today we are praying for those in abusive relationships, the elderly and all those whose lives are threatened by COVID-19.
Lord, you are our refuge. Protect those who are in danger right now. Hold them close to you.
* If you or someone you know is not safe at home, call 1-800-799-SAFE or text HOME to 741741 or go to www.thehotline.org *
The only way to keep community and connection going right now is to communicate. Maybe you know someone who is stuck inside because of health risks, maybe you have a friend you've been meaning to check-in with. Maybe you yourself need someone to talk to. Start the conversation. Make a phone call or video call and give that person your full attention.
