In many places around the world, public celebration of Mass has been temporarily suspended. This is truly painful for those of us who are used to having access to the sacraments every day, or at least regularly.
But there are people in the world who feel this longing all the time. There are people who have experienced this pain long before COVID-19 and who will continue to experience it after our churches open their doors.
Today, we are united with them.
Even in a time when churches might be open, an evening spent in candlelight is a way to show solidarity with those who are without the sacraments.
